I love the idea of Joost, the client was exquisitely designed. Being a self-confessed otaku and nihonphine I loved Gong – a channel with a number of old but good anime cartoons on it. But I have decided to take it off my computer because the content hasn’t been updated in ages.
Content is king, and Joost has been overran by the likes of Hulu and BBC’s iPlayer. I still think that P2P video platforms have a place, you can view downloaded content offline I remember watching Bonanza (I am also a sucker for old American television horse operas and sitcoms) in an airport lounge on my laptop without any connection to a wi-fi hotspot, I now use Veoh. Its not as well designed as Joost, but it has some good content if you dig around long enough.
