Pat Phelan gives me 3UK heart attack

3UK announced that it was putting a roaming bar by default on 3UK broadband dongles. When I saw Pat Phelan‘s post this morning 3 bans its broadband customers from overseas data usage, it scared the crap out of me.

One of the key reasons why I use a 3UK hardware dongle and mobile phone is due to the company’s 3 Like Home scheme. Thankfully, this is about roaming on non-3 networks. The bar can be removed by calling 3UK customer services in advance.

I guess the moral of the story is never judge a blog post by its title.

Thanks for the link Ged
I probably should change it to “3 bans it mobile broadband usage in 187 countries unless prepaid”
or maybe
“3 puts a limit on your data roaming in 187 countries of £50″
If you want to pick its no problem :-)

Hi Pat,

Maybe I should change the punchline to never read the blog post title and assume. I am quite fortunate that Italy, Ireland and Hong Kong are the places were I tend to do my personal travel. Calls and data in other countries would be billed back to my employer as a business expense

Thanks for dropping by :-)

Ged
