Design Classics: Suck UK

SUCK UK are famous for their cheeky design such as the sun jar. A lot of marketing communications is supposed to work on nostalgia, well SUCK UK have mainlined on the nostalgia train. Their most recent collection items continues this aesthetic, this time taking influence from the images of childhood. I particularly like the money jar that echoes the designs of the life-size glass fibre charity boxes that used to appear outside supermarkets for the likes of childrens homes and polio charities.

The Dennis fire engine design of the cat’s play house reminded me of being four years old and watching the fire appliances go whizzing up and own the Old Chester Road on my way to school or the post office. I am sure that it will also appeal to my friend Jonathan for more feline reasons!

Ged – thanks for the tip off – funnily enough I just skimmed your post and bookmarked the cat playhouse without noticing my name mentioned. Oh, I am becoming one big predictable stereotype of a cat loving geeky consumer. ;)

From a technology perspective this site like so many others is powered by WordPress and supercharged with caffiene. It looks minimalist, yet aesthetically pleasing thanks to a slightly tweaked version of DePo Skinny Theme designed by the talented Mr Powazek. The site is hosted on a grid service by the clever people at Media Temple (mt).
