Seven years later

Google has resurrected their search index from some time in 2001 and I thought it was interesting to see how the results had changed so I googled myself on both indexes. First the 2001 search: nine results for me of which all were client press releases with me as a media contact.

In 2008, the number of results had shot up to 9,180 (though I am not sure that all of them are relevant), the top ten results included various incarnations of my blog and social software profiles together with a profile of me written up on Sourcewatch.

Sourcewatch describes itself as “a collaborative project of the Center for Media and Democracy to produce a directory of the people, organizations and issues shaping the public agenda. A primary purpose of SourceWatch is documenting the PR and propaganda activities of public relations firms and public relations professionals engaged in managing and manipulating public perception, opinion and policy.
