Jargon Watch: Cotton Wool Kids

Much of this morning’s Today programme was given over to research conducted by Natural England on the lack of time that children now spent outdoors in local parks or the countryside. The Cotton Wool Kids phrase is used in the press release to support the research and by the presenter on the today programme to describe children who are protected from the outside world by parents afraid of sexual predators and traffic.
