Jargon Watch: Enhanced memory device

I was chatting with green blogger Dan Ilett and he talked about the concept of the enhanced memory device which he had originally heard from Andy Hopper of Cambridge University. The enhanced memory device is a way of recognising the personal object status that mobile phones and the like now hold. They contain our address book, our social graph through applications like TweetDeck and our calendar. Items which we either would have had on discrete items of paper or held in our heads.

I liked the concept because it describes how we are all becoming cyberneticly augmented to varying degrees now.

From a technology perspective this site like so many others is powered by WordPress and supercharged with caffiene. It looks minimalist, yet aesthetically pleasing thanks to a slightly tweaked version of DePo Skinny Theme designed by the talented Mr Powazek. The site is hosted on a grid service by the clever people at Media Temple (mt).
