The V&A put together this interview with Dieter Rams about post-war design as part of an exhibition called Cold War Modern.
His ideas about a universal system rather than individual objects or product ranges are probably used more by digital companies like Google and Apple with their end-to-end services or eco-systems. It seems strange now who the Braun brothers innovation was to realise that consumers would buy good design. A major shake up is needed on this again.
Rams’ house looks so fresh and modern, yet has no apparent digital objects in view on camera. The analogue radios and turnbables he made would blend in well with Apple’s Mac range.
