The Power of Nostalgia

One of the key trends that seems to be coming out a the moment in marketing circles is the allure of nostalgia. This is considered to be partly motivated by consumers looking for comfort from a halycon view of simpler times. Is there any truth in this? Or is it a combination of chasing the boomer pound and hipster irony? From P&G and PepsiCo throwback packaging to steam punk fiction and the retro festivals organised by Wayne Hemmingway; nostalgia seems to be here in a big way
