Cancer funding: interesting datapoints

Pancreatic Cancer UK have developed an interesting infographic that looks the survivability and funding invested into research for a treatment. You can see their full infographic here.

What grabbed my attention was a particular part below that looks at cancers as a cause of death versus the amount of money put into research.

I am sure that the charity picked the data to make their case throughout the infographic, but I thought that this section also made the start of an interesting case from an arbitrage point-of-view for government or industry-funded research. This data would be overlaid with how much the person’s life is worth and other such callous attributes of triage that health economics turns into a science.
