Jargon Watch: Causesumerism | 行话 – Causesumerism

Vanessa Friedman in her Material World column wrote about a new social marketing book called Brand Aid by Lisa Ann Rochey and Stefano Ponte; Friedman discussed the key concept of the book – causesumerism as:

…the increasing tendency of luxury and fashion brands to help consumers justify purchases by injecting a note of do-goodism into the selling of the product.

Examples of this would be 141eyewear, Warby Parker, TOMS and project (RED).
