Out and about: Browns bar and brasserie, Old Jewry, City of London

Reading Time: < 1 minute

I wanted a good venue to meet a friend to catch up in the city and they recommended Browns by Bank underground station. A small interest belies a spacious bar, the restaurant has additional seating on a mezzanine floor. The downstairs had a buzzy atmosphere but the hard wooden services made conversation very difficult, moving upstairs had more seats and was much quieter.

The table service was very good. The menu is simple and represented good value; especially for the square mile. I enjoyed a cup of coffee, gammon, egg and chips – my companion had the sea bass. Both of which were good. If you are looking for a dining option in the city that doesn’t cost an arm-and-a-leg Browns is a good option.
