Five for Friday | 五日(星期五)

Five things that have made my day this week:

IBM and Eames Office released a free iPad application Minds of Modern Mathematics that captures work that Charles and Ray Eames did in the 1960s. Mathematica: A World of Numbers… And Beyond was an IBM-sponsored exhibition. The app captures the artifacts and the history in a great interactive application.

NextDraft is a curated daily e-zine by Dave Pell with interesting and thought provoking content curated from around the web. NextDraft has catholic tastes which means that is always surprises you with things out of left-field.

I have a lot of traveling on at the moment and reconnected with social travel site Dopplr to track at least some of my travel. The site has languished since it was acquired for its engineering talent by Nokia, I am hoping that somebody rescues it again soon.

The typography on MischMasch – a boutique cola stocked by the Herman ze German cafés in London. Fritz-Kola is a Hamburg based soft drinks company with a similar kind of vibe to the Jones Soda Company. Misch-Masch is a mix of cola, lemon and orange flavours – like the bastard child of a Coke and a glass of Club Rock Shandy. What I really fell in love with was the logo design which evoked memories of German typography in particular adidas from the 1970s.

Finally taxi company Addison Lee’s online booking service has been a life-saver this week, I can also recommend their mobile application for iPhone.
