US remix and edit master Luxxury has returned with a remake of Kiss classic stadium rock – I was made for loving you but with a 1980s post-disco dance floor smash. In my view it sounds better in this version than the original. Luxxury’s style reminds me a lot of 1980s remixes a la Shep Pettibone, Arthur Baker and the Latin Rascals with a lot of use of dub effects.
The mix has ‘space’ in a similar way to The Reflex and 1980s mixes have, that modern mixes don’t have. Modern mixes are designed to be played through mobile phones and poor quality Bluetooth speakers or soundbars. They are highly compressed recordings and don’t consider ‘placement’ of sound to the listener.
Luxxury got into hot water last year after remaking the The Eagles Hotel California and Blondie’s Rapture.
