Jargon Watch: Sausage casing girls

Sausage casing girls – Young women and girls who are overweight and wear clothes that are far too small for them, so creating giant love handles and letting it all hang out in an unsightly manner. The debate rages on whether they are fashion victims needing to wear the latest slinky tops and hipsters, in denial about their size or showing body pride.

There is one great line from

Letting it all hang out (July 5, 2006) by Robin Abcarian of the Los Angeles Times: “Fat or skinny, it doesn’t matter,” she said. “The guys in there will look at you if you’re wearing a little skirt and hoochie tank top.”

  1. A posting that will bring a smile to the face of anyone that has ever spent an evening in the vicinity of Newcastle’s Bigg Market, or in fact high street of any town or city in the UK on a Fri and Sat night. Nice one Ged. Shame on you for not finding more accurate photographic evidence though. And in the interests of equality there should surely be a male equivalent.

  2. I decided to go for a visual metaphor rather than a literal picture. One man’s curvy wench is anothers dogs dinner.

Excuse me! We have fat, we have thin, we have fit, we have ugly … just like any other city. Although, the Bigg Market is a favourite haunt for the Geordie chavs. :-)
