When I was a kid, the plastic bags loaves of bread were held shut with plastic tabs with the sell-by date embossed into the tag. Now that seems to have given away to tape in the UK.
Whilst in Ireland the traditional greased paper bags seemed to have held off the plastic bags preferred by the Chorleywood process bakeries. Instead bags are closed by rolling and scrunching up the end of the butter paper bag.
One Canadian jewellery designer Melanie Favreau has been inspired the everyday objects around her. Her design based on old school bread tags called ‘Milk and Bread‘ was something that I particularly liked.
