Bruce Sterling is better known for his science fiction, but he also does work as a futurist. In Tomorrow Now; Bruce Sterling explores biotechnology, terrorism and globalisation. He examines them not only in terms of their technological likelihood but also thinks about what the social impact maybe.
What would it be like to live in a world where everyone is genetically enhanced, or that asymmetric warfare is likely to become less effective in the future?
You may not agree with all this hypothesis but it at least gives you a point to start from. Sterling managed to write the book in an easy, accessible style which made it ideal air travel fodder for me one weekend. More book reviews here.
