Two things stood out:
- The UK’s CCTV infrastructure actually started under the Conservatives, though Labour built from this foundation and much of the paper’s stories come from CCTV, so they are both as bad as each other
- Privacy and the ‘surveillance state’ has moved from being a nerd issue to being a concern of the
common binge drinking loadsamoney chav scumEveryman that is the readership of The Sun
This was a marked sea change in the public’s awareness of privacy issues and I wonder how it will play out with regards online privacy issues in the future?
