Just of the main drag of Gerrard Street is one of Chinatown’s best bakeries. You squeeze into a shop not much bigger than the proverbial phone box and select your baked goods from a number of clear bins putting them on a tray for the cashier to package for you. Their pineapple buns are the ideal accompaniment to a morning mug of coffee. Service is polite but perfunctory: kind of like an Asian version of the Yorkshire demeanor.
