US-style grassroots campaign politics comes to the UK

I find David Miliband’s experiment with US-style grassroots campaign tactics in his leadership bid fascinating. I don’t know enough about the forthcoming leadership election to understand if this will be a deciding factor for Mr Miliband being elected, but I would like to know how these ‘house-meetings‘ resonate with the UK attendees.

This introductory video looks as if it could be made on a Mac with simple iMovie-esque editing, but it does the job well enough. If these tactics are going to work within a UK cultural setting, it stands the best chance with an internal leadership campaign like this as you have a highly-engaged audience who won’t find it culturally odd. It’s got to feel more authentic than the Windows 7 parties which garnered a lot of attention.
