Five for Friday | 五日(星期五)

Things that made my day this week published later than it should have been:

  • Patch the Jack Russell who left Kildare arrived in Dublin on a commuter train and was reunited with his owner by judicious use of Twitter by IrishRail, more here

  • I received a 30-year retrospective from China Daily. Face of Time (1981 – 2011) traces the history of the paper through its photography
  • I am now going into my first full week without iDisk and I can’t say that I like it. Not at all happy with Apple at the moment
  • I rediscovered ELO’s Face The Music album this week, in particular the track Fire On High which I first remember hearing in the early 1980s, it is a proto-Balearic anthem that Scott Hardkiss under The God Within moniker built The Phoenix around. Track the single-sided white label down of this on netsoundsmusic, Discogs, GEMM or eBay – pure belter
  • Gutted that I can’t get along to the London Hong Kong film festival (to celebrate 15 years of Chinese rule over the special administrative region), especially wanted to see the original version of The One-Armed Swordsman
