The sound of Trevor Fung and Greg Wilson putting history right

Trevor Fung is someone who you don’t hear too much about today. He was the prime mover in the Ibiza gang who brought the house bug back to London (although there were others playing house there already), having invited Rampling, Oakenfold etc out to the white isle where he was living at the time.

Fung still plays out; great deep sets like this one.

Greg Wilson has got a great article putting the story straight on the Saul on the road to Damascus conversion of the DJ royalty myth about house music here.

A second thing people dont realise is that Oakenfold et al tried to knife the house music scene by trying to build a scene around slow music: a 98BPM movement in 1990. The only relics of this now are the listings on Discogs.
