John W Milnor talks on differential topology. The lecture was filmed at Princeton university in 1965. Differential topology considers the properties and structures that require only a smooth structure on a manifold to be defined. This is really handy for computer modelling, computer aided design, CNC machines and additive manufacturing using ‘3d printing’ and similar technologies. More on manufacturing processes here.
He has won numerous awards for his contributions to mathematical theory over the decades. More on John W Milnor and differential topology here.
