Trainspotting 2 – Culture has taken a retrotastic pivot. Sony Pictures started its long hype campaign for the sequel to the iconic 1990s film Trainspotting. It is 20 years since the original film and it will be interesting to see how the original cast characters have developed. Although I imagine that today’s Scotland lacks the colour and the vibrancy of the original setting.

Kevin Smith Is Making an Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai TV Show – Buckaroo Banzai is a 1980s cult film featuring Peter Weller (of Robocop fame). It had lots of interesting ideas bundled into a ludicrously cheaply made film. And that was part of its charm. I feel that Kevin Smith is just the kind of director that you would want to be behind it.

Lone’s Blacktail Was Heavy on R&S Records is an old time breaks driven rave-up from his forthcoming album Levitate. The song packs a punch on its own and is strangely atemporal in nature. The video dials it up that much further. The video feels both modern and back to the early 1990s all at the same time. Shot down the road in Silvertown, the video has a look feels like Mike Leigh film.

Mr Robot will be returning for a second season. The initial trailer looks promising. Season one built up a large following and did a good job in trying to keep the look and feel of its hacks real.

The BBC has been getting rid of BBC Recipes. But someone  has managed to scraped them all from the BBC site and put them on a searchable site.  Auntie’s Recipes – BBC Recipe search engine. It will be interesting to see how long this lasts, given the amount of valuable intellectual property involved. This is a fascinating area when you realise how big media properties JamieOliver.com and Great British Chefs are.
